Petsville Closes Doors
Petsville in Prattville has closed there doors for the final time. We at HDBR are sad to see the store close; we made a lot of friends there and were thankful to the stores' owners for allowing us their store property for Dirty Dog Wash days and for MicroChiping. We at HDBR wish the owners and their employees the best. 1/8/08
Referral Hounds
HDBR now has a Referral page as a courtesy to Basset Hound owners who are unable to find a home for the Hound, but need to for whatever reason. Rescues should be their number one choice, but often rescues are full, invariably due to a shortage of foster homes. 10/20/07
Handsome Stretch returns
Stretch's adoptive parents have had a serious medical situation arise in the family which no longer permits them to provide Stretch with the care and attention he needs, so they called us and we picked him up yesterday. It's sad the adoption didn't result in Stretch's forever home, but the positive is: his owners called us when they needed to find him a home. Stretch was well taken care of and is now back in the webmaster's home and doing well. 10/8/07

we'll publish your comments on our adoption page for all to read!! 3/24/07
Late News *** New Foster Family also Adopts!!!!!!
A Family in Brundidge, Alabama has adopted our well mannered Honey and has agreed to open their doors for a foster. HDBR can not begin to thank this family enough for their kind extension of a helping hand to Endy, one of our newest rescues.
Stretch has Been Adopted!!!
This wonderfully handsome example of a Basset Hound has found his forever home in Mobile, Alabama. A wonderful and close family has opened their doors to this great guy. A large back yard and a privacy fence and four human brothers and sisters will keep the 'big guy' busy. His foster Dad has needed a few days of serious therapy after those good-byes. 3/25/2007
Micro Chips are in!!!!
HomeAgain micro chips have arrived. We will start 'chipping' our foster Hounds in Montgomery as well as those previously adopted through HDBR. We will then start 'chipping' those Hounds that were adopted elsewhere through Alabama and in the Dothan Region. 3/25/2007
Dirty Dog Wash!!!!!
Calling all dirty dogs! It's time for HDBR's first Dirty Dog Wash of the season. We'll be at Petsville located at 250 Interstate Commercial Park Prattville, AL. Sound complicated? How about I65 at exit 181 which is HWY 14. If coming from Montgomery, turn left on HWY 14. If coming from Birmingham, turn right on HWY 14. We'll be there from 10am-2pm on SATURDAY JUNE 2. We will be bathing your dogs for donations. All proceeds benefit Heart of Dixie Basset Hound Rescue and allow us to rescue more unwanted bassets in the state of Alabama. For more information, email us: heartofdixiebhr@gmail.com
Movies for our Available Hounds
We now have a new way to show off our Hounds...they all have a short video.
Nicole is adopted
This precious little shy girl is now with her forever home.
Stretch Is In The Movies (2/2/07)
Stretch has a film clip. This will provide prospective owners with
another way to evaluate our Hounds.
Jubil Remembered on our Rainbow Bridge (1/27/07)
Jubil's picture has been placed in our newly created Rainbow Bridge page.
Jubil Passes Away (1/20/07)
Sadly Jubil Passed away this afternoon, Saturday January 20, 2007, following a week long virus and several visits and stays with our Veterinarian, this loveable guy could no longer fight it.
He'll be remembered for his handsome masculine features, his wonderfully even temperament and his happy personality.
This is our rescues first passing; this is a very sad day for HDBR.
Jubil will remain on our Hounds page for one week and then his picture and narrative will be transferred to a soon to be created Rainbow Bridge page where he will always be remembered.
A special thanks to James Wick and Baba and Jimmy Monk who contributed to his care; his Angels.

Carter Checks Out A Potential Home (1/22/07)
YAY! I went to visit some people that think I'm too cool! They're waiting until I'm finished with my dips, and then I have a home where the white tailed deer roam. Yeah! They have deer. I didn't know what they were. They sure make funny looking dogs.
Harrison Has Been Adopted (1/15/07)
Harrison will be transported from his Foster Home in Birmingham to his new home south of Dothan on Monday January 15th. A beautiful spread out in the country, a fenced in yard, a Pug for a friend and a family ready to care for this wonderful Hound awaits Harrison. Look at our
adoption page for a picture of him and his new owner.
Zoë is Adopted (1/10/07)
Zoë came to us through a longtime friend and Basset Rescuer in Dothan. This sweet little girl has now been adopted.
More details will follow soon.
Jasper Has Benn Adopted!!!!! (1/22/06)
This wonderful guy has found his forever home. A great couple with two small
children who love to play with him. Jasper is wonderfully photogenic; we will miss
that handsome face adorning our pages. But we are happy he now has a great stable life.
Jazzman, you'll be missed.
Jasper visits his forever home
Jasper finding new scents!!!!
Friday December 22d, Jasper rode to spend a weekend, and maybe more, at his potential forever home. His prospective new parents are no strangers to Bassets as his new Mom had several growing up. Jasper quickly took to his new surroundings to and including an upcoming brush with a serious kitty. A beautiful home in Montgomery, with a fenced back yard, if all goes well, this young little boy has found his forever home.
Adoption Day December 2006

The generous staff and owner Greg Mills of PetsVille of Prattville Alabama hosted an Adoption Day for Heart of Dixie Basset Hound Rescue on December 23, 2006. Volunteers from HDBR along with foster bassets Honey, Carter, Jubil and Zoe greeted and mingled with the holiday shoppers. PetsVille sponsored an all rescue Angel Tree this year, encouraging their shoppers to support rescue. Through the Angel Tree the Bassets of HDBR got an early Christmas with the donation of collars, leashes, toys, and food bowls. The HDBR volunteers took this opportunity to spread the word about rescue, the need for donations and support, and it was the perfect time for belly rubs and ear scratches (for the bassets of course). A big Happy Howl-i-day and Drool-Tide greetings to the friendly people of Prattville.

Basset Angel News
More people are starting to help Heart of Dixie Basset Hound Rescue with the expenses
of caring for our Hounds. We have a Basset Angel Program that is still not very user
friendly but will be. So in the mean time either click on the Basset Angel logo on the front
page which will direct you to another page and then to your Pay Pal account OR call or
email HDBR and they will happily help you make a tax deductible contribution.
To those who have so graciously contributed, we thank you more than you know
for your good heart and generosity. If the Hounds could hug you, they would!!!!!
